Red Cross International Humanitarian Law Volunteer Program

Students interested in becoming volunteer instructors in the ARC’s International Humanitarian Law program and teaching these classes to other students and community members can reach out to Kim Sanders or directly to May Giulitto. This program is in conjunction with Professor Manning Warren, ARC Lifetime Liaison to International Services.

Volunteers in the IHL program have three levels of training to choose from, which will determine the courses they eventually teach. All initial training classwork is done online and timing is self-directed. Volunteers will be taught how to lead classes and paired with existing instructors before doing any solo work. Volunteer instructors are not required to have set availability and may lead sessions as their schedules permit. Initial online training modules can take anywhere from 90 minutes to 3 hours, depending on the course. IHL volunteer-led teaching sessions range from 45 minutes (Basic) to 8 hours (Advanced, two instructors).
